| Objective: At the conclusion of this course the student should be able to provide the tax client with advice regarding social security, Medicare, retirement and estate planning issues. |
Course Description:
This class combines 3 subjects to provide a special new course addressing retirement issues for working taxpayers or an aging client base.
Social Security & Medicare: The course starts with an overview of Medicare coverage, coverage hurdles, 2010 Health Care bill changes and costs. Also discussed is social security: what does it
take to qualify, benefits, retirement, pitfalls, planning ideas and options in an easy to understand example-laden format.
Retirement Plans & IRAs: This class covers defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans including 401(k), Roth 401(k) and Solo 401(k), and all forms of IRAs including SEP, SIMPLE, Traditional,
Non-Deductible and Roth. Formation rules, compliance, contribution limits, penalties, transfers, rollovers and much more are discussed.
Estate & Gift Planning Review: This course reviews 2010 estate and gift tax changes and new amounts as established by Congress. Also reviewed are rudimentary estate and gift tax planning ideas
such as gifting strategies, medical exclusions, education exclusions and gift splitting. An overview of basic gift and estate tax rules and planning concepts is provided in an example form.

Course Description:
This is a course combining 3 short courses:
Practice Management: This course addresses vexing small firm practice issues and provides common sense guidance for choosing tax software, fees, billing, interviewing clients, tax return
processing, client relationships, compliance, liability and practice transfer issues.
Accountants Reports: The basic requirements necessary to issue a compiled or reviewed accountant's report are reviewed. Then the course carefully examines the proper wording of
compiled financial statement reports in most GAAP and Tax presentations from the point of view of a practitioner. We conclude by discussing review reports and special situation reports. Examples
for all situations are provided.
Top Tech Topics: This course is designed to cover the “What’s New” section of he 8-hour technology course. Pitfalls and advantages of changing to Windows 7 from a real practitioner
point of view, the latest software and hardware tools, online applications, web portals and more are discussed. This two hour class may be the best value-added short course in America.
